Department Overview

The Land Management (LM) organization is responsible for providing land surveying, land rights and acquisition services in support of gas/electric transmission and distribution projects.
Other LM responsibilities include the oversight and management of PG&E land assets which include fee properties and various land entitlements.
PG&E owns nearly 200,000 acres of land spread across 48 California counties, from Shasta County on the north to Kern County on the south.
The company is one of the largest private property owners in the state, and in addition manages thousands of acres of right-of-way easements for gas and electric facilities.

Position Summary

This is an Expert Land Consultant position that serves as Land Management's (LM) representative on Land Acquisition team.
The Expert Land Consultant provides support to the Land Acquisition team as the point of contact for critical process and projects.
The Expert LC will be a leader in resolving roadblocks and working towards successful project delivery for both gas and electric transmission project.

Up to 50% of time is spent in the field throughout the system, including occasional overnight travel

Job Responsibilities

  • Self-driven professional with experience managing multiple complex jobs, including leading a multi- disciplinary team.
    Assignments are unique and highly complex, have major associated risk with high visibility, and require judgment in applying and adapting project related experience and knowledge.
  • Interacts with all levels of PG&E leadership and staff within Land, client LOBs and other partner organizations.
  • Serves as a member of the management team within Land Management.
  • Is frequently called upon to make presentations within and outside PG&E.
  • Manages programs or projects of high visibility and high potential liability and exposure to the company.
    Performs assignments of broad scope and high complexity, with few precedents or protocols and which require integration of information from a variety of sources.
    Applies extensive knowledge of technical principles, practices and/or regulatory requirements to resolve complex problems.
    Conceives of or contributes to the development of new techniques or approaches to technical or process issues and shares such approaches throughout the industry as appropriate.
  • Works independently, often at the direction of PG&E Management.
  • Is part of the extended leadership team on-call rotation.

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelor s Degree in business, environmental resources, engineering, forestry, land use or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 10 or more years technical project experience and/or experience in working with land processes or issues
  • Experience as lead on multiple large and complex Company projects that are high profile in nature and carry significant risks for the Company.
  • Up to 50% travel to project sites, different Land Management offices or business partner offices.
  • Valid California driver s license.

Desired

  • Project Management Institute Certification
  • Master s degree in business, environmental discipline or sciences.
  • Strong understanding of the company s electric and gas systems.
  • Competency in developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences
  • Competency in making good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward
  • Competency in making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
