Specialized Experience required for in-service applicants:
One year of specialized experience which includes an understanding of law enforcement operations, practices and techniques and involved responsibility in maintaining order and protecting life and property. Performing preliminary and short term investigations, traffic control, gathering and analyzing facts, preserving evidence, preparing diagrams and interviewing witnesses and persons involved in investigations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-07. Specialized Experience required for outside-service applicants:
One year of specialized experience which includes an understanding of law enforcement operations, practices and techniques and involved responsibility in maintaining order and protecting life and property. Performing long term investigations, evaluating crime prevention programs and recommending changes to reduce opportunities of violations; developing informant networks; coordinating with authorities on case development to perform arrests and prosecutions; and management of police officer personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-08. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
